National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II Northern Michigan University has been added to the 2010-11 schedule replacing NCAA Division I Oakland University. Spring Arbor will travel to Marquette, MI to play the Wildcats on November 20 at 1:00pm.
SAU will play two consecutive Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) schools as they tip-off at Grand Valley State University on November 16. The last time the Cougars squared off against a GLIAC opponent was in 2007 when Spring Arbor defeated Northwood University 91-63.
SAU was originally scheduled to play at Oakland on Nov. 18 but both schools agreed to push their game back a year to the 2011-12 season. By rescheduling the matchup the Grizzlies were able to accept an invitation to play at Ohio State University and Spring Arbor avoids playing six games in 10 days including five on the road.
"It's a really good situation for us," commented SAU head coach Ryan Cottingham. "We still get the opportunity to play Oakland and picking up Northern gives a few extra days to rest and prepare."
