SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Crossroads League has announced its Baseball Player of the Week award and Spring Arbor University's Chris Triplett has been recognized after leading the Cougars past Indiana Wesleyan University 3-0 in the conference tournament opener last week.
Triplett, from Flushing, Michigan, went 3-for-4 at the plate with an RBI, a run scored and two stolen bases. Not only did the freshman third baseman get the job done at the plate, but with the glove as well. With the Cougars clinging to a narrow 1-0 lead in the sixth inning and the tying run on base, Triplett made a diving catch on an attempted bunt and, from his knees, fired a throw to first base to double off the runner. The play was also featured on Bleacher Report's Instagram page as well.
On the season, Triplett is hitting .299 and is tied for the team lead with 27 runs scored.
