SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University cross country teams swept the awards for Crossroads League Cross Country Runners of the Week with senior Daniel Garza earning the men's honor and junior Victoria Harper doing the same for the women.
Garza was the top finisher for the Spring Arbor men at the Jayhawk Invitational, helping lead the Cougars to a sixth place team finish out of 17 teams competing. The senior from Dearborn, Michigan placed 23rd overall in a race featuring nearly 200 runners with a season-best time of 26:32.
For the fourth straight race, Harper paced the women's squad to guide SAU to a fifth place team finish out of 12 teams. She helped the Cougars post their lowest team time of the season as she finished 16th overall with a time of 19:36.
The Cougars will get in their final tune-up before the Crossroads League Championship when they travel to Grand Rapids for the NAIA Great Lakes Challenge, held at Riverside Park, on Saturday, Oct. 22. The league championship meet will be held two weeks later on Saturday, Nov. 5 on the campus of Indiana Wesleyan University.
