SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Team Computer Rankings made their 2017 debut Wednesday when they were released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), and the Spring Arbor University men's track and field team came in at No. 18 in the rankings.
The Cougars have two athletes ranked first in their respective events. Junior Kevin Smith sits atop the rankings in the heptathlon while sophomore Joshua Smith owns the best time in the country in the 60 meter hurdles. Freshman AJ Gruttadauro also currently ranks second in the 3000 meter race walk.
Spring Arbor received 71.64 points in the initial rankings. The Cougars are one of two Crossroads League institutions in the rankings as Bethel College landed at No. 8.
The USTFCCCA National Team Computer Rankings are tabulated by assigning point totals to where athletes and relay teams stand on the descending order lists from the current season.
The next set of rankings will be released on Wednesday, Feb 1.
