ADDISON, Ill. – Three members of the Spring Arbor University men's bowling team competed individually at the 2017 Intercollegiate Singles Championships sectional qualifier on Friday in their final event of the season.
Austin Kraemer, Adam LaRoe and Corey Gill were among 261 bowlers competing at the Addison, Illinois sectional – the largest field of the four sectional sites. The format called for each competitor to roll six games, after which they were ranked by total pinfall.
Kraemer led the way for the Cougar contingent, placing 53rd overall. He accumulated 1201 pins with a high-game of 244. LaRoe took 119th, finishing with 1125 pins and a high-game of 215. Gill finished 203rd with a total pinfall of 1013 and a high-game of 208.
ISC Sectionals were held at four sites – Allentown, Pa., Smyrna, Tenn., Addison, Ill. and Dallas, Texas. The top four men and top four women from each site were guaranteed to advance. The eight additional men and eight additional women who advanced were determined based on the number of entries at each sectional.
The top 24 men and 24 women from the sectionals move on to the 2017 Intercollegiate Singles Championships, which will be held on Apr. 18-19 and 22 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
