SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University Athletic Department will host the first annual Cougar Nation Athletic (CNA) Awards on Sunday, May 7 at 5:30 p.m. in the SAU Fieldhouse.

The CNA Awards is a formal, red carpet event modeled from the well-known ESPYS and created to give the department an opportunity to celebrate and honor the academic, athletic and community excellence achieved by all SAU student-athletes.

In addition to the traditional year-end Kay Dunckel Sophomore Scholarship, Don McDonald Junior Scholarship and Senior Athletes of the Year honors, a total of 16 CNA awards will be handed out in categories such as Team of the Year, Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Play of the Year and Comeback Performance of the Year. Eligible nominations are drawn from the Fall 2016, Winter 2016-2017 and Spring 2017 seasons.

Nominations for each award are submitted by the SAU Athletics staff, coaches and trainers, and voted on by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

It is an all-athlete event and a ticket is required to attend. Student-athletes may pick up their ticket in the main Athletics office from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Apr. 18-21.

Doors will open for the event at 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 7 with the banquet beginning at 5:30 p.m.
