SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – After defeating Grace College twice earlier this month, the Spring Arbor University baseball team completed the season sweep with a 4-1 victory Monday afternoon at Hank Burbridge Field.

THE BASICS

SCORE: Spring Arbor 4, Grace 1

LOCATION: Hank Burbridge Field | Spring Arbor, Mich.

RECORDS: Spring Arbor 17-23 (10-10 CL), Grace 13-24-1 (5-15 CL)

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Nick Harris started the three-run first inning for Spring Arbor with a two-out double down the left field line bringing in Alex Holley and Tyler Reed. Kyle Harris capped the scoring with a base hit allowing his brother to cross the plate.
  • The Cougars extended their lead to 4-0 in the second on Reed's RBI single.
  • Grace scored one run on three hits in the third inning, but that was the only offense the Lancers could come up with against Duncan Patterson on the day.
  • After surrendering a run in the third, Patterson held the visitors scoreless and hitless over the next four innings.
  • The Lancers brought the tying run to the plate in the ninth, but freshman Nick Carroll induced a harmless pop out to end the game and earn his first career save.
  • Reed was 2-for-4 at the plate with an RBI and run scored. Francisco Ondina also collected two hits, including a double.
  • Patterson earned his third win of the season. He pitched seven innings allowing one run on four hits while striking out six, which matched his season-high. Carroll tossed two innings of scoreless relief with three strike outs.
