SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – Spring Arbor University volleyball has announced its 2017 schedule, beginning with a pair of non-conference tournaments before starting Crossroads League play.
Third year head coach Betsy Martinez and the Cougars will open the campaign on Aug. 18-19 with four matches at the Concordia University Kick-Off Tournament, including contests against NAIA national tournament qualifiers Madonna University and Mount Vernon Nazarene University.
Spring Arbor will travel to the University of Michigan-Dearborn the following weekend for the annual Early Bird Challenge. During the two-day event, SAU will compete against Judson University, Williams Baptist College, Trinity International University, and Indiana University-South Bend.
Crossroads League play starts Wednesday, Aug. 30 with a trip to the defending league champions, Indiana Wesleyan University. In addition to traveling to IWU, the Cougars will also visit Bethel College (Sept. 6) and Huntington University (Sept. 9) in the first half of the league slate.
September begins with Spring Arbor participating in the Siena Heights University Classic. On Friday, Sept. 1, SAU will battle Lindenwood University-Belleville before taking on Saint Ambrose University and host Siena Heights on Saturday, Sept. 2.
After playing their first 13 matches on the road, the Cougars will return home to play eight of their next 10 contests, including their home opener against Grace College on Friday, Sept. 8 at 7 p.m.
The final home match of the season will be on Wednesday, Oct. 18 when SAU hosts Bethel at 7 p.m.
The regular season wraps up with three consecutive road matches, including trips to Marian University (Oct. 25), University of Saint Francis (Oct. 27) and Goshen College (Oct. 28).
The Crossroads League Tournament is set to begin on Saturday, Nov. 4 with the championship match scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 11.
