Department of Athletics Mission

The Spring Arbor University Athletic Department will provide each participant with a highly competitive, quality athletic experience within a Christ-centered environment, as each athlete is enabled to achieve excellence within the spiritual, academic and social aspects of their life.

From the Athletic Director

It is my vision that the Spring Arbor University athletic department teaches our athletes lessons that are not merely competitive in nature, but which are also comprehensive; a complete molding of not just an athlete, but a whole individual. Our goal of striving for excellence holds true not only in the athletic arena, but also encompasses our endeavors as Christians, community leaders and scholars.

Developing excellence in our athletes requires that they have good leadership. SAU coaches are charged with not only producing teams that consistently compete for MCC championships, but who also develop well rounded, Christian, student athletes who are fierce competitors on the field and passionate about building a relationship with Jesus Christ off of it. Our mission states that we will "provide each participant a highly competitive, quality athletic experience within a Christ-centered environment." Our coaches are a pivotal piece, not only in winning games, but also in winning lives for Christ.

SAU athletes are also called upon to be leaders. Nothing speaks more powerfully of our athletic program than SAU athletes becoming involved and tackling leadership roles outside of their teams. Whether it is in the classroom, on campus or in the local community, the impact that our athletes can have on those around them is immeasurable.

Our ultimate goal is to produce student athletes that can take the lessons they learn at Spring Arbor University and apply them to their everyday academic, athletic, social and spiritual lives.
